God is Love

This was written by a man far more intelligent than I am. I haven't read it yet but plan to shortly.

Although this encyclic is meant for you and not me I have been reading through it.

A lot of the reviews in the local newspapers are very praising of him and especially now he has softened his image as a hard concervative catholic with this new letter on love.

You will need to read this in context but to show the true meaning of love he sums it up with a prayer to mary stating this:

"To her we entrust the Church and her mission in the service of love:"

Then he prays to her.

Holy Mary, Mother of God.....

Hi again, Puritan Belief.

Glad to hear that you're reading the Papal encyclical. I am still in the process of reading it. As you're reading it, please note that his writing on this is not infallible.

These are only his thoughts and his opinions. From what I've read, they are pretty insightful.

Regarding Mary, I think that this a point that a lot of Protestants have a hard time understanding. He's not worshipping her. He's asking her for help (through his prayer), the same way that you may ask your mom or your friend for help.

The beauty of Mary is that whenever you ask her for help, she points you directly to Him. (John 2:5) Another post at another time.
